The Island of Freedom

With her divorce a year in the past, Alysa goes on a vacation to recover from her adulterous husband. On the island she comes to recognize the courage she still has within and that she doesn’t need a man to make her happy.

On her relaxing trip she encounters three island men who help her forget about walking in on her husband with another woman, and for the first time in a year she is able to remember the good parts of her failed marriage. Alysa gasped as she exited the airport, the air was so hot it felt like the sun had come crashing to earth. Road signs and cars shimmered in the distance, a trick of the eye that proved just how hot it was. The skies were forget-me-not blue with dots of lazy clouds drifting across it in shapeless formations. Most of the local men she walked by were shirtless, and Alysa thought she could get used to that. The air tasted like the sea, the mixture of marine life and salt that permeates everything. Alysa would dream of that taste for the rest of her life.

A cab pulled up in front of her and she got in, opening the window immediately. She pulled her long auburn hair off her neck and tied it in a bun on the top of her head. She took off the jacket she had been wearing on the plane, it was definitely too hot for it here. She couldn’t wait to run and jump in the ocean, washing the miles and tribulations off of her body. The cab drew her through a noisy city with a myriad of people around. Some were obvious tourists with maps in hand, but some were locals who were selling fruit or fish or souvenirs. Every local was deeply tan, a bronze color that spoke of years under the sun. A cacophony of sounds rumbled past her as the cab moved on, and she sat back and sighed taking it all in.

On the cab ride she thought of what she would do on the trip. Maybe some yoga on the beach, a massage, or even some time with a local man. She thought about how long it had been since she was with someone, and when she realized she couldn’t remember she decided that she had to find a man to have a fling with. She could picture herself with a bronze bodied man and she had to shift herself on the seat as she was…
