Be Positive in your Habits

remove yourself from the negatives in your life

If you want to be positive then you need to stop being around the negative. There is no other way around it. Your mind is wired to notice the cues that you respond to. If you smoke, what gives your mind the cue to light up a cigarette? Is it social situations, stress, work colleagues going on a break?

For every habit there is a cue. Every cue leads to a reaction in your mind. If you get arrested every Saturday night because you get into fights at a bar, then guess what, you need to stop going to the bar. Extreme example, but clear I hope.

So the time is now. You want to be positive, look at what you see as negative. If you eat too much, what causes that belief in you? If you drink too much, why do you do it? Think about those negative thoughts and behaviours and in them you will see the cue that is causing them.

Sounds simple but very difficult for I to do. How do you feel about your habits and the desire to be positive? We are conditioned by our environment to be drawn to the negative. We need to free ourselves sometimes from the environment we are in our change it’s dynamic.

If we get distracted easily by our phones then learn to put it away for a few hours in a draw. If you don’t drink enough water then make sure you have some bottles of water in the fridge or other convenient places. If you don’t sleep enough as you watch TV in bed, then take the TV out of the room.

Learn to have designated spaces for designated things, routines, positive environments leading to positive cues. Positive cues give you positive habits. If someone brings your mood down, talk to them about it, tell them how they impact you. They may change. If they don’t then be prepared to not meet or speak with them.

Positive cues lead to positive habits.
