What is the strangest thing an introvert does?

I often receive complaints or mockery from my circle just because I go to restaurants, cafes or even watch movies alone.

It’s like extroverts just can’t wrap their heads around it and think it’s so sad. They can’t imagine how introverts actually find joy in doing things alone.

But that’s not all. Here are some of my habits as an introvert that I’m sure you, as an extrovert, wouldn’t understand.

Wearing a mask everywhere is one of my favorite habits as an introvert, and I’ve been doing it even before the COVID-19 pandemic. The mask serves as more than just a protective measure — it acts as a physical and emotional shield.

The mask provides me with a sense of anonymity, allowing me to create a safe space where I can observe the world around me without feeling exposed or vulnerable.

Also, wearing a mask allows me to establish personal boundaries and control my engagement level with others.

Since I happened to grow up in a country that values friendliness and greetings, it’s a bit challenging for me to leave the house without acknowledging those around me. Just a simple greeting is fine, but sometimes neighbors ask me various questions that make me feel uncomfortable.

I prefer apartments over landed houses because it prevents anyone from accidentally visiting me, unlike in a home where unexpected visitors can easily drop by.

Being at home is not the same as being able to visit. But not many people understand. I enjoy company sometimes, but I need my own space more often.

One day, a package was being delivered to my house, and I was the only present. The delivery person contacted me, and I explained that nobody was available at the moment. However, I kindly requested that they could leave the package by the fence for my convenience.
