Listen! This is your conscience speaking.

The definition of conscience is a personal awareness of right and wrong that you use to guide your actions to do right.
A certain naive young lad who was top of his class during his primary and secondary education, a total upright student, many students are like this but after securing admission into tertiary institution they lost their sense of viability, of course some turned rogue right from their secondary schools even primary schools.
Should we talk about about the innocent young lads who got influenced to become cyber fraudsters, sex workers? Some who eventually graduate and secure good jobs still continue with that trend, for instance, Through compromised banking staff, fraudsters use fake identity to access funds. This is because the fraudster would have used a foreign name and would not have a recognised identity card in that name. For successful execution of fraud, an insider within the bank is important: the banker facilitates payment without attracting the attention of security agencies. They also get their share of the loot.
Those who secured law enforcement jobs boycott the oath sworn by them to indulge in bribery collection, abuse of power amidst many others. Then we ask what happened to the conscience of these people?

Public servants turned public funds looters, Africa Continent for example is known to be poor but really it is not. Yes, Africa is being looted. Africa is being looted by public funds looters.
Dear African leaders, Corruption is a crime against humanity. Corruption in post-colonial Africa is gnawing at the progress that the continent could be enjoying. The continent has many ideological voices all seeking relevance.
Former Nigerian president Sani Abacha was estimated to be worth $20 Billion at the time of his death. How a president, a public servant ends up being a billionaire can only be attributed to corruption. In South Africa, Jacob Zuma was found to have unduly benefited from the taxpayers money in the infamous Nkandla debacle. In Congo, Joseph Kabila and his family are among the richest people in the continent owing their wealth to diamond mining. Uhuru Kenyatta, son of Jomo Kenyatta was on the Forbes list of the richest men in Africa. Jomo Kenyatta openly grabbed vast tracts of land from the British when Kenya attained independence. Paul Biya in Cameroon is also amongst the richest people in Africa and corrupt dealings have been synonymous with his name. In Zimbabwe, top government officials are notorious for their lavish lifestyles. Money has been stolen from the government coffers without any apology or remorse.
Nigeria as a case study, Nigerians feed on wild plants and drink their own urine to quench their thirst so they can stay hydrated under the scorching sun of the Sahara desert while they cross in search of greener pastures all because the self acclaimed leaders refused to provide basic amenities for the masses. Above that same Sahara desert 35,000ft are the looters in planes sipping expensive wines while they loot away the national Treasury in banks abroad.
Thousands of Nigerians are fed on by sea creatures while their boat capsize in the Mediterranean Sea all because they were looking for greener pastures in the foreign land and then we have the looters sitting in beach feeding on sea food that must have fed on the Nigerians in the sea. What happened to the conscience of these people?

As a married man you go around fornicating with someone else's wife, sister or even daughter. What happened to your conscience? You deceived those who trust and look up to you, you hurt people you care about. Imagine that been done to your wife, sister or even daughter, how would you feel? Your reputation is a like shadow, it will follow you around for your entire life.

As a young employee, indulging in fraudulent activities doesn't speak well of you. You need a rise in pay? Ask for it and work for it also. Put yourself in the position of the company owner, how would you feel if your employee uses fraudulent ways to divert what was meant to be the company's money for his/her own personal use?
Our conscience is meant to guide us to do the right things, be effective on the outside and inside. But when you tend to the wrong things most times then you need to examine yourself, listen to that fragile voice telling you to do the right thing.
Trust your own beliefs and decisions of what is right. Do not let yourself be swayed by what others think, say or do.
Speak up when you see an injustice being done. Many people have a strong conscience but are afraid to act.
Your conscience is developed based on what moral codes are instilled in you, especially during childhood and adolescence. That's why child abuse is a very serious issue - it's not just the emotional trauma, it's easy for such person's values and morals to be twisted.

What the hell happened to the conscience of those who go about raping people, some won't just rape but also murder their victims gruesomely. The unsavory behavior with kidnappers is to kill their victim even after collecting the ransom, I tend to ask myself why would a young vibrant person just decide to kidnap people for a living? Few days ago, I read on news about an hired killer who receives a sum of five hundred naira only (1.08 USD) as payment for taking a person's life, I wonder what was going through his mind after he was apprehended. All these all boils down to conscience, there is good conscience and there is bad conscience, to have a good conscience you must guard your conscience.

That little voice whispering to you to desist from your bad acts or tells you not to do a certain bad act you're about to do is your good conscience but the bad one will always tell you to steal, lie and indulge in all sort of bad things, some people because of a particular trauma they have been through find it difficult have a deep thought about their conscience, whatever you do that you don't want people who trust you to find out about simply because you want them to feel disappointed in you is bad and that voice telling you to stop is your conscience, listen to it for the sake of your mental health and for the sake of your loved ones. Life will be so easy if we all listen to our good conscience.
