We all are aware that our mother earth has been crowned by the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19. With common situations like lockdown, no meeting with friends, stepping out of the house only if important, no gatherings; our phone, our internet and our social media have become our best friends. Sometimes we get blessed enough to be with our family but mostly we are lonely amidst our furniture. With so much going on in the world, there is no surprise that people are experiencing general mental health challenges, stress, anxiety, depression. So what do we do - “We have to learn to regain our self control”. Try following few strategies below which might help you in self healing.

When the world around you is upside down, with so much chaos and worry about health, safety, and future, you need to take out some space for yourself. The space of silence, the space of thoughts and your beautiful responses with which you can ease your anxiety. From looking outside for self-care to also looking inside, can help you cultivate your skills and self-awareness that you can use to cope up with your anxiety.

It might be helpful for you to follow the simple rule of pause, think and respond. Take a pause when you are nervous, tensed or restless. Simply be in your immediate moment, experience your strengths, your power within and think what is important for this moment. When you get your response in your brief pause, just try to follow it. That is how you will be able to “regain your personal control over your mind” and that will be the “key of discovery to your happiness”. This will not only help your own mental health but also positively affect those around you.

This is a term used when stress and depression are caused due to excessive thinking, something which is more than anxiety. You keep thinking about anything stressful which makes you unhappy. Sometimes it is advised to distract yourself or think less about the problem but how about confronting it and dealing with it? Do give a thought about it.

We all are so afraid of being unhappy that whenever depressive thoughts come to our mind, we tend to get very disturbed. Well, how about thinking that “It is OK to be sad, It is OK to be unhappy”? It is because, we have never learned how to handle unhappiness, so it needs to be ingrained in our brain that it is ok to feel sad. Once you start confronting your thoughts, you learn how to control them and become mentally strong, remember your aim is to “regain your personal control”.

It is important to find out what gives you peace. The aim is to discover what gives you a sense of contentment and attempt to do more of it. Your life won’t be valuable unless you are enjoying it.

Happiness can be in any kind. You can find happiness in helping someone else or just holding a kitten in your arms, starting to have a healthy nutrition diet or just helping a stray dog to find a loving home for him. Define your happiness!

Keep an ear out for this phrase, “Do what makes you happy”…..Will you listen to it?

LOVE yourself through how you can improve each day; physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Find your flaws and try to become more better version of yourself. Give it a start today, you shouldn’t be fully satisfied with yourself just yet!
